Un style avant-gardiste

Masculin et Féminin

pour arts-lovers anti-conformistes

Vijou is art.

Vijou is a jewel.

Vijou for VIdeo biJOU is a jewel that plays video on a miniature screen. A revolutionary creation at the crossroads of art, fashion and technology. A unique object : a Vijou.

Vijou has been invented by Reinhard Hampel and Véronique Cartier Hampel. Video artists, they wanted to make their art stand out, and share it. Making the Vijou required the latest technologies : 3D printing, high grade plastics refined by the best decoration techniques, miniaturised electronics.

Working on flowers for their videos, they discovered that poppies are inhabited by bugs. They replaced the bug by a tank and the Battle Poppy was born, as part of the « En Guerre » series commemorating WWI. They invented a method for shaping the copper petals of this flower with 3D printed tools, and initiated an new line of creations where the action happens in the viewer’s head.
